Carlsberg Vietnam and its employees donate more than 1.1 billion VND to support northern regions affected by typhoon and flooding

Carlsberg Vietnam, together with its employees, has donated over 1.1 billion VND to support the northern provinces of Vietnam severely impacted by Typhoon Yagi and the resulting flooding. The donation was directly handed over to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees of Thai Nguyen and Lao Cai, the two provinces hardest hit by the recent disaster.

Typhoon Yagi, one of the most intense storms to hit Vietnam in the past 30 years, caused widespread damage across northern Vietnam. The storm and its aftermath have resulted in significant loss of life, extensive property damage, and severe disruption to local infrastructure. According to the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, as of 5:30 PM on September 15, the storm has caused 330 deaths or missing persons, 1,921 injuries, and devastated tens of thousands of homes, with numbers still rising.

In response to the urgent situation, Carlsberg Vietnam, together with its employees, has stepped up to provide critical support. The company, along with its staff, has donated more than 1.1 billion VND to the two hardest-hit provinces, Thai Nguyen and Lao Cai. This donation embodies the Carlsberg Group’s purpose of “Brewing for a better today and tomorrow,” reflecting Carlsberg Vietnam's commitment to social responsibility and community support during challenging times.

The donation was sourced from both the company and voluntary contributions from Carlsberg Vietnam employees. In the spirit of solidarity and mutual support, Carlsberg Vietnam initiated a call for donations among its employees. This effort reflects the company's deep empathy and commitment, as well as its collective effort to assist the people of northern Vietnam in overcoming the challenges they face.

These funds have been directly transferred to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees in Thai Nguyen and Lao Cai provinces. They will be used to repair collapsed and damaged homes, support families facing severe losses or injuries, and provide essential aid to help residents rebuild and restore their lives after the disaster.

Andrew Khan, Managing Director of Carlsberg Vietnam, expressed, “At Carlsberg, our purpose of ‘Brewing for a better today and tomorrow’ goes beyond our products; it defines our commitment to the communities we serve. With over 30 years of operations in Vietnam, we understand our role and responsibility towards the community and are committed to offering our support during challenging times.”

"In the face of adversity, our mission compels us to stand together, offering support and hope. Through this donation, we aim to ease the burden faced by those affected by Typhoon Yagi and the floods. Our hearts go out to every family impacted, and we hope that this gesture will bring some relief and help rebuid lives. Together, we can overcome these hardships and move forward with renewed strength and unity," he added.

As one of the first Danish multinational corporations to invest in Vietnam, Carlsberg has a long history of contributing to the country’s economic and social development. Over the past three decades, the company has actively engaged in sustainability efforts, limited environmental impact, and supported numerous community support initiatives. Carlsberg Vietnam has provided clean water to 9,000 households in Central Vietnam, distributed thousands of gift packs annually to low-income families, constructed charitable homes, and supported disaster relief efforts. Through these endeavors, the company continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of local people, fostering a sense of community and shared responsibility for a better Vietnam.
